Designed and made in SwedenA Scandinavian shelving system designed to make all your storage problems go away. The shelving system allows you to build the shelf of your dreams. Create your own unique combination with a mixture of metal shelves and wooden shelves. Or have fun with colours and accessories. The possibilities are endless. The String shelving system is widely known for its characteristic wire panels, designed by architect Nisse Strinning and Kajsa Strinning back in 1949. However, there are more options than the iconic wire panels. Nisse and Kajsa also designed panels completely in plex. The plex panels launched in 1954 and were the first major complement to the String system. The wire panels and plex panels have distinctly different expressions, but they have the common denominator of classic Scandinavian design.
In order to create the most optimal shelving system for your home, you need a few snippets of basic String® knowledge. We have three fundamental lessons to get you going.
The first lesson is panels – the wire panels come in two different constructions, wall panels and floor panels, and they are available in two different depths, 30 cm and 20 cm. The plex panels are available as wall panels and come in two different heights (50 cm and 75 cm) and two different depths (20 cm and 30 cm).
The second lesson is shelves – we have wooden shelves in a variety of colours and perforated metal shelves with edges with both high and low edge. The shelves come in different widths and depths, 78x30 cm, 78x20 cm, 58x30 cm and 58x20 cm.
The third lesson is accessories, these will personalize and optimize your string shelf. We have everything from hooks to knife holders to hanger racks and coat-hangers.
We said three lessons, but we must add a fourth. Use your creativity when creating your shelving combinations. Do not limit yourself. Enjoy the fact that String is a shelving system, and quite a genius one, where you can build out a shelving combination exactly after your preferences. And to help you get going we have just the tool for you; our virtual drawing tool Build Your Own.
